Hydraulic flow control cartridge valves are used to regulate flow in both directions. Pressure compensation is provided. The flow depends on the pressure and viscosity of the fluid. One port connects to the discharge line, the other to the consumer (for example, to a hydraulic cylinder).

The principle of operation is as follows. The flow is regulated by rotating the throttle body around its axis. After setting the required flow, tighten the lock nut.
